New Day's Kingston, Woods exit WWE roster
Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, known as the New Day tag team, have left WWE following their placement in the alumni section of the company website. The departures occurred Saturday amid a series of recent releases. Fightful Select and BodySlam reported the moves for the duo, who continued competing after Big E's injury sidelined him.
Kingston and Woods formed the New Day with Big E and became fan favorites. The pair captured four tag team titles together and eight overall including time with Big E. Kingston also succeeded as a singles star, winning the WWE Championship from Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 35 during the fan-driven "Kofi-Mania" push. He held the Intercontinental Championship four times and the United States Championship three times. Woods, who joined WWE in 2010 after runs in TNA and NJPW, won the 2021 King of the Ring tournament.
The duo claimed their most recent tag titles at WrestleMania 41 before turning heel. They lost the belts in June, with Woods suffering an injury later that year. Kingston then aligned with Grayson Waller. Tonga Loa and JC Mateo also departed WWE. Loa, who first appeared in 2009 and returned in 2024 to join Solo Sikoa's new Bloodline faction, left after a previous exit in 2014. Mateo, who entered WWE in 2025 and held tag titles with Tama Tonga before dropping them to Damian Priest and R-Truth in March, supported the same group.
These releases mark the latest in WWE's ongoing roster adjustments.
